"Promenade of Data Science" is a competition centered on data storytelling. Unlike traditional statistical analysis contests, this event does not measure success solely by prediction accuracy. Instead, it encourages participants to extract compelling narratives from data, combining data exploration, statistical inference, and critical thinking to answer meaningful and impactful questions.
A data story must not only be engaging, but also anchored in a sound context and theoretical background. Participants are encouraged to review relevant literature and address real-world issues to clarify complex relationships among variables, avoiding oversimplification or flawed causal inferences.
The competition provides five open-access social science datasets as analytical materials. Participants are free to apply statistical methods, artificial intelligence, or machine learning techniques, and clearly communicate their data-driven insights through visualization and storytelling.
This is more than a hands-on data analysis challenge—it is an interdisciplinary platform for cross-institutional learning and exchange. Participants will hone their data science and communication skills through judge feedback and live presentations.
